For me, pixis are the best thing you can buy kids for less than a euro. And of course I don’t just mean the original by Carlsen, which, like Tesa, Zewa, Labello or Tempo, has developed into a donym! I love them all – also from Ravensburger, Nelson, Coppenrath & Co.! That’s why they are becoming more and more. So that the chaos doesn’t get out of hand, I’ve put together great ideas for storing Pixi books for you and also asked around in the editorial office.
For large collections: the BonnieBoxx
The BonnieBoxx is a really ingenious idea for stowing away the little books. This is a cardboard dispenser that fits 90 of them! It is available in several motifs, which were designed very clichéd for girls or boys, but I find them totally cute. By the way, the material is very stable, we have been using it for several years.
The inside can be pulled out to fill, then your little ones can get one out at the bottom and put one back in at the top after reading. In this way you also ensure variety and do not always read the same ones. There are holes at the back to attach the box to the wall.
Sew it yourself or buy it: Pixi fabric covers
Matching fabric covers are great, especially for on the go. This means that the books are not only neatly stowed away, but also protected from kinks and dirt.
If you can sew, you can find many instructions on the Internet. If you adjust the dimensions, you can equip yourself for the slightly larger Maxi Pixis or for the narrower Pixi Knowledge.
Etsy has a wide range of really beautiful models. You can also get them there as bags with a carrying strap, personalized or as a set of small and maxi versions. I had a friend sew me a combination of cover and pencil case, because Maxi Pixis are also available as coloring and puzzle books.
Basket to store Pixi books
Do you always keep the sweet raffia baskets in which you can buy garlic? We mainly use them for the shop, but Pixi books also fit perfectly. They’re really easy to spice up, by the way! All you need is some colorful bast cord and beads.
Simply thread a colored cord into several rows of raffia in the basket and add pearls or other decorative items with a hole as you wish. It may not look like it, but the eco-friendly storage fits 25 Pixi books.
Alternatively, you can use a fabric basket. These are specially available with matching Pixi dimensions on Etsy.
Bookshelves with Pixi compartments or hanging utensil
For larger books, I find shelves where you can see the covers of the books to be practical, especially for daycare children. They are also great for small spaces because they protrude less into the room than other bookshelves. In addition, you can attach a hanging utensil to it for storing Pixi books.
Incidentally, Vertbaudet also has shelf models that have small compartments on the side for Pixis. Of course, your kids can also clean up other odds and ends there.
Pixi book storage on the loft bed
The little books are ideal in the evening, when your eyes are about to close. You can still create a pixi. A hanging utensil is just as suitable for having a small selection on the loft bed as it is on the bookshelf.
DIY cardboard storage
I hoard lots of small, stable cardboard boxes in the basement, because you can really often use them for handicrafts. Unlike in the BonnieBoxx, for example, your little ones can simply flip through their booklets in the boxes and choose what they would like to look at most. If you design the cardboard boxes a bit imaginatively, then they will also look good on the shelf. Glue or paint – it’s best to just let your darlings get creative.
Stored invisibly in CD boxes or stools
Those who prefer to tidy up their Pixi collection invisibly are well served with CD boxes, for example. They are not exactly the same size, but the Pixi book storage is not that precise. Boxes that can also be used as stools in the children’s room are also practical.
Original display: the Porsche among the Pixi storage systems
With a bit of luck, you can get such a pixi standee on Ebay! All children really love it in bookstores and you have a real eye-catcher with it – assuming there is enough space.
Storing pixis: 1,001 ways
It doesn’t matter how many of these sweet little books you have at home – it doesn’t have to create disorder and chaos. Most Pixi book storage is not only practical, but also super cute!
Not only Pixis, but many more book tips are in the video…
